Lecture 11 : Intelligent Systems in Healthcare

There are many ways in which health information systems can be advanced. One of the ways is when they are simply smart or smarter than other systems. This lecture introduces concepts from the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and presents their relation to healthcare systems. It reviews basic methods and discusses possible applications.

Artificial intelligence concerns intelligent behaviors in machines. Machines in AI are often called agents. AII intersects multiple disciplines including computer science, philosophy, engineering, psychology, cognitive science, economics, mathematics, neuroscience, linguistics, and others.
